How to Keep the Brain Healthy and Functioning Well

Posted on March 9, 2022January 11, 2023 by MacBrain research team

Compared to all the beings on the face of the earth, the human being is the only organism with no extraordinarily special qualities, but still, we rule the world because having a, you guessed it right, Brain. That comprehends how important this walnut-like organ in our head is.

The brain has amazing power, most of which is not even fully known by the modern sciences.

The brain is the control centre of all the functions of the body be it voluntary or involuntary. A sound brain, i.e., a healthy brain is what is necessary for a healthy body and a happy life.

If this part of you isn’t well balanced then all of your efforts to get a better lifestyle are going to be all in vain.

The mind is practically divided into three parts, these are conscious, unconscious and subconscious minds. Most of the activities of the brain are controlled by the subconscious mind. Therefore you might not have complete control over your brain just by a thought in the conscious mind, it needs time and effort to shape your mind healthily to gain the best effects from it.

Some of the things that are necessary to have a healthy brain are:

Good Food

They mean it when they say that “You are what you eat”. The kind of food you eat affects the way your brain would work. It’s necessary to have healthy food which has the required nutrients for the body so that your brain can get the required nutrition for the repair of the damage all that stress has caused.

Exercise

Physical activity has an immense role to play in keeping the brain healthy. It leads to better blood flow to all the parts of the body including the brain and thus improves the working of the brain. It helps the brain to function with ease.

Sleep

It’s important to get enough rest for your brain to work properly. During sleep, the brain gets the time to rejuvenate and get ready to take all of the work again without overloading itself. The recommended 7-8 hours of sleep schedule has to be followed if you wish to not exhaust your brain.

Reduce Stress

The biggest enemy of your brain? That’s all the stress you’ve been taking… All the pressure on you and all the worries you have is seriously damaging your mental health. You must try to reduce stress by practising meditation and mindfulness. This reduced the stress and also helps you rewire the subconscious for a better outcome in life.

Mental Health

Just as physical health is important it’s equally important to keep the mind healthy.  Keep a check on the mental health issues that you might be prone to if you have a bad lifestyle like depression, anxiety, stress, panic attacks etc. Also do check for diseases that can harm the mental health like hypertension, diabetes, obesity etc. Have annual checkups with the doctor to keep such conditions in control.
